Al Franken Foreshadows Leftist Militarism?
In an altercation with Laura Ingraham's producer over reneging on his (Franken's) agreement to appear on Laura's show Al starts grappling and slugging, forcing ingraham to call security. Pics here and here. Foreshadowing a future where the disaffected left takes a turn toward violence? Perhaps that's reading too much into it, but somehow I think if one could only make money betting on it... I wouldn't need an IRA. (Hat tip: Captain Ed.)

Now, I'm OK with everyone having 2nd amendment rights and don't begrudge them this. But their presupposition is that heterosexuals routinely threaten their very existence.
Most people who carry handguns do so out of fear of general criminals - they don't specify who or what ideology exactly. So this specificity of the gays' motive alarms me. "Armed gays don't get bashed"... think about the implications.
Bashed? When liberals are confronted with people who merely beg to differ with them, or who foolishly suppose they are "open minded" enough to engage in an argument, invariably the end result is a Left initiated shouting match.... and they wander off cursing how "we" "bash them"!
It would be funny if they didn't immediately suppose our disagreement with their ideas was really an attack on their person. But alas, that's how the gays see it and how many Democrats see it... to oppose their ideas is to strike them. It only makes sense that they'll seek violence when it looks like they can't win the shouting match.
I've witnessed physical fury of pro-abortion people leveled against mute pro-lifers just standing on the side-walk, praying the Rosary. The mere presence of someone who begs to differ with them made these "pro-choicers" furious - and violent.
I've seen the so-called "peace and justice" crowd howl with rage - and physically assault some kid holding up a sign they disagreed with... They started by cursing him, made no pretense to win him over with arguments or reasons. Because he didn't back down, they felt "threatened" so attacked.
If Bush doesn't win big this November they may very well feel "bashed" again and take it out on hapless bystanders, people with "W '04" bumper stickers, people who "look" like Republicans.
Every pogrom in modern times was initiated not by religious minded folk, but by the atheistic, hedons among us: German, Italian, Spanish and Russian fascists, nazis, anarchists, and communists were mostly young armed men who felt "disenfranchized" and thought their violence would usher in the utopia they felt justified every means.
I'd say about the only thing keeping this from happening here is the 2nd amendment reality that the would-be victims they so despise are likely to be armed as well.

This demonstrates how important "terms" are, as opposed to words. I'd suggest you ask a gay person what the word "bashing" means to them, but I assure you it's more than attacking their "ideas" in argumentation, or even foul language. As one who witnessed a "gay bashing" incident committed by friends of mine in my youth, the weapon of choice wasn't rhetoric, but a tire iron. I wouldn't blame a gay person for carrying a weapon at all. Gay bashing is a criminal and violent act, and they'd have every right to shoot the offender.

Franken was a HS wrestler so I think his first instinct is to grapple rather than punch, but he's probably fairly tough. Actually, when I'm talking about "militarism" I'm really talking about terrorism. I think a certain segment of the Marxisant/Anarchist left will resort to bomb throwing when they've been thoroughly rejected by the electorate. Franken would be more like the inspiration for these guys, or possibly the instigator. A better example of the potential might be the radical environmentalists of Earth First. But Franken is harborinng a great deal of anger as his political opportunities slip away. You can fool some of the people part of the time, but you can't fool the majority long enough to get elected. Not yet, anyway.
