Virgnia Sky

Virginia Sky

I love this picture. It was taken at Nick Kotz's farm in the Piedmont. The reason for the strange cloud formations is that a front was rolling in. It was really quite dramatic. Note the cloud shadows on the ground.

I don't think those long shadows on the ground are from the clouds. The angles don't look right.

Others have made the same remark. But I was there. In fact, I took the picture. The cloud shadows were cast by the sun to the rear of the picture, essentially of the same clouds but not the part of them showing in the picture itself. Realistically, what else would have cast such a shadow in a rural area like that? There weren't any towers, and there certainly aren't any trees of that shape.

Damn, that's pretty cool. No way to prescript lighting cooperation like that.
